Emily is a thirty-year-old woman. She is a design graduate with a debt of around $30,000 from her studies. She works at a corporate party catering company because she hasn’t been able to find work in her field. She considers herself an artist, but she hasn’t drawn in a long time. She lives in a two-bedroom apartment with an Asian couple. Her life has come to an end.
A high school friend promises to help her get a job in her field of interest because she works at a supposedly very prestigious design firm. While she is given that job, Emily goes to interviews where she always gets a criminal record, to which she responds angrily and aggressively when it is revealed.
While all of her failures are occuring, a coworker introduces her to some people who appear to pay well. When they contact her, they inform her that it is illegal. The first task is to make small purchases using counterfeit or duplicated credit cards. Emily performs well and is then offered a second job that pays more but is riskier, which she accepts as she develops a relationship with her “employer.” They become coworkers and lovers.
